Game Of Thrones: Top 10 Action Scenes

5. The Hound & Arya Vs. Five Lannister Soldiers

Episode: Two Swords If there was any fight scene that left us with extremely mixed feelings, this is the one. Not due to its quality - though it is a finely-staged and brilliantly-shot sequence - but rather due to the implications it has for its characters, particularly Arya. A well-done bar fight is one that utilises space and props, and this fight scene does just that - tables are overturned, debris flies everywhere, swords change hands - the inn that this scene takes place at is much the worse for wear once the dust has cleared. This scene, from its extremely tense buildup to its coldly brutal end, is the finest bit of directing from showrunners Benioff & Weiss since Jamie's hand was sliced off. This scene is a point of no return for both Arya and the Hound - neither may go back to the life they used to live after this scene. The Hound, simply because he killed a handful of Lannister soldiers, Arya because she has taken another step into a darker world. It wasn't the first time she killed someone, but the first time she enjoyed it. This is no longer the little Arya we saw playing in Winterfell in the pilot episode...
