Games Of Thrones Season 7: What 'Eastwatch' Really Means

12. "The War Is Over" - An Uneasy Truce Is Possible

The big step out from Jaime's meeting with Drogon in the Reach is that - as some clever people suggested in the wake of last week's episode - the war is all but over. Cersei might have claimed the Tyrell's gold and paid off the Iron Bank (with them promising her funds to hire the Golden Company), but as Jaime rightly points out, they don't have enough soldiers, or food and it wouldn't matter anyway, because the Dothraki would hand them their backsides anyway in a fight.

As was also predicted last week, the battle in the Reach (let's not call it the Loot Train Attack, as it's an awful name) was a major stride towards Cersei being forced to negotiate with Dany. And now that Dany has had her own attentions changed to realise how important the battle with the Dead will be (a flip-flop not QUITE earned, but whatever), a truce looks more likely than ever.

The problematic thing about Cersei's apparent awareness of the meeting between Tyrion and Jaime is what it means for Bronn. There's no way Cersei will do anything to her beloved Jaime (even though she threatened him not to betray her again), and Tyrion is out of her grasp, but Bronn's inconsequential to her, and you shouldn't put it past her to strike out at him to punish both Tyrion and Jaime for the meeting.
