Glee: 5 Awesome Celebrity Guest Stars and 5 That Sucked

3. Gwyneth Paltrow as "Holly Holiday"

Gwyneth Paltrow is probably the Glee celebrity guest star that was the most buzzed about in it's entire run and her performance on the show was really one of the best. Luckily for Gwyneth, the writers actually crafted a memorable, endearing and quirky character for her to play, which played to her comedic strengths as an actress. Substitute teacher Holly Holiday may not have been the greatest singer, but her dancing certainly impressed and she was one of the funniest Glee creations in a long while. If I have one criticism it is that in the three episodes Gwyneth appeared she really was the star of the show... in every episode she was given solos and too much focus was directed towards her. That said, her character did have a very important role to play in many of the characters lives... she effectively helped Santana accept the fact that she is a lesbian and she also effectively helped split up Emma and Carl freeing Emma so that she can finally begin her on again off again relationship with Will. If it hadn't had been for Holly, Will and Emma would probably not be engaged now. Still, I for one was hoping for her to at least sing just one Coldplay song, as I am also hoping Kate Hudson will get to sing a Muse song too... I highly doubt this though.

I am a recent Screenwriting for Film and Television graduate from the UK. I am an unashamed geek who loves everything Marvel, and anything Joss Whedon has ever touched (except for maybe Alien Resurrection and Titan A.E). My current favorite TV shows are Breaking Bad, Family Guy, House of Cards, Game of Thrones, American Horror Story, Homeland and Glee. I look forward to debating things with all of you in the future.
