Jade Pinkett Smith is playing antagonist Fish Mooney; a new character and based on her screen time in the trailer, she will be Gordons main adversary in the first season. Following the Wayne murders, Fish Mooney looks like the gangster who makes the first move for control of Gothams streets. Not much is revealed about her in the trailer but she comes across as an interesting character. She openly challenges Gordon to make a move to arrest her, describing a danger in his eyes and in another brief moment, states the city is ready for the taking and it might as well be by her. In her short screen time she presents herself with an air of confidence and control, while also revealing to be cold and dangerous. This makes her an compelling first adversary for Gordon. Like most mobsters, she comes across as untouchable and it makes Gordon seethe in his seat. She appears ready to take her place at the top of Gothams criminal underbelly and help bring about a dark age for the city. Its good that the producers are introducing their own characters into the show to keep it fresh. Despite what some comic fans think, it isnt important (or even necessary) to acknowledge every single detail and bring it to the screen. It means they have no real restrictions and this character can develop without being shackled to fan expectation (though sometimes this is a good thing Mandarin for example). She is certainly one of the most intriguing characters heading into the series premiere.
