Gotham: 10 Things We Learned From The New Trailer

3. The Penguin Rises To Power

The Penguin is one of Batman€™s oldest foes, his debut appearance in comics dating as far back as December 1941. He is notable for his grotesque appearance and distinct love of birds and weaponised umbrellas. Despite his size, and unthreatening statue, he is one of Batman€™s most dangerous foes. Oswalt Cobblepot, played by Robin Lord Taylor, is expected to be a major player in the series. Oswalt€™s brief appearance in the trailer shows him at his weasely best, cowering from Jim Gordon as he reveals information surrounding the future of Gotham. Mooney may be the lead antagonist in the first series, but expect Cobblepot to be quietly playing a game of chess with everyone€™s lives in the background. Cobblepot is not a man to be underestimated, and he plays it to his advantage. It will no doubt surprise no one if Mooney later loses her power to him in a hostile takeover. He is cunning, ruthless and has a evil streak that has put him among the best in Batman€™s €˜Rogues Gallery€™. We briefly get a hint of his evil notoriety with his sadistic laugh and his trademark umbrella near the end of the trailer. Remember; Penguins eat Fish!
