6. Jim's Got A New Friend...For Now
It wasn't just villains who made Jim's life hard in Season 1. The GCPD was plagued by corruption, forcing Jim to seek outside help from sources both likely (Harvey Dent) and unlikely (The Penguin). Things are set to alter in Season 2, with the introduction of a new Police Captain, Nathaniel Barnes,
played by Michael Chiklis. Barnes is described as no-nonsense, hard-edged and even something of a mentor for Gordon. Expect him to clean up the ranks, allowing the series more time to focus on problems external to the precinct. Of course, in Gotham relationships have a way of souring. When Chiklis was cast, the press release teased he would indeed aid Gordon, but might eventually grow to hinder him. Is corruption going to resurface in the GCPD, or will Gordon's methods draw the ire of the new Captain? It's all expected to play a big part in Season 2.
