4. I'm Back

Edward Nygma is one of the shows premier highlights, a colourful character perfected by the actor. His return to the GCPD after his extreme fall from grace - he murdered a co-worker and was certified insane - was an execution in pure spite and bravado.

Opening with 'I've missed ALL of you!', Nygma arrives as a liaison for the mayor and demands access to the forensics lab. Barnes, naturally, is having absolutely none of it, reminding the cop-killer of the minuscule amount of respect he has for him and how he will absolutely, positively not allow Nygma to work in the GCPD.

Barnes thought he had the upper hand as the mayor cannot fire him. But Nygma, as always, had the answer; 'No, but he can appoint a commissioner who will'.

Nygma is in fine form and it's moments like these that remind you why it's the characters with the sharp minds that beat those with the sharp knives each and every time. In fact, Nygma had many stand-out moments in this episode; another being when Lee clocked him in the chin and reminded him that any threat is rendered moot due to her fiancée’s father.
