Gotham Season 5: 3 Ups & 2 Downs From Trespassers

1. It's A Bit Disappointing

Gotham Season 5
Fox

As stated in previous entries, Trespassers delivered in several different ways, but even so, it's hard not to compare this episode to the previous one, and it comes up noticeably short. It's true that television can't be great all the time, but considering how much potential the show has this season, the decision to devote an entire episode to a rescue mission - one that will likely serve no purpose to the story moving forward - is a little odd.

While you could argue that the mission highlights Gordon's commitment to the city, this isn't really something that needed highlighting considering how much the character has given to Gotham in the past. We know that he would give his last breath for the city, so exploring it again at this late stage in the game feels a little pointless.

Again, the episode wasn't bad by any means and, had Gotham been given an extended final season, then you could forgive an instalment of this nature. However, considering there are only 10 episodes left to go - and a series of storylines left to explore, as well as plenty of characters left to evolve - it's hard not to think that this episode would've been better served focusing on one of these things instead.
