Gotham Season 5: 3 Ups & 2 Downs From Trespassers

Downs...

2. The Haunted Hotel

Gotham Season 5 hotel
Fox

While Gordon and Bullock's successful mission to rescue the kids from the Soothsayers provided us with many jaw-dropping and panic-inducing moments, there was a particular selection of scenes that proved odd, to say the least.

After their armoured-vehicle is damaged in the crossfire, Gordon and Bullock hightail it across the city on foot - with a few kids in tow. They find themselves in a creepy hotel, hoping for a bit of a reprieve while they figure out where to go from here. However, the hotel is helmed by a creepy woman known as "mother", who attempts to kill Gordon and all those that have intruded.

It sounds like a pretty neat inclusion, and it absolutely would have been if it went anywhere. Instead, the GCPD officers manage to escape rather easily, because "mother" merely gives up in her crusade, giving our heroes enough time to escape. This convenience was further exacerbated by the fact that the hotel visit had little to no effect on the overall plot.

Perhaps this creepy location and its unusual characters will come back into play in a later episode, and if so, then we can appreciate this scene in all its glory, but right now it serves little purpose, and feels as if it's only there to drag the storyline out for another ten minutes - time which could've been spent on something more important such as Ed's confusion, or Selina's depression.
