Gotham Season 5: 5 Major Questions We Have After 'Pena Dura'
4. Can Selina Be Redeemed?
A question viewers likely found themselves asking after last week's episode, and yet we've still to receive an answer to it. Selina Kyle has strayed so far from the girl she was in Gotham's pilot episode, and it's hard to know if there is any way back for her.
Ivy Pepper's root cure has given Selina her legs back, but it also unleashed an inner darkness from within her. The future Carwoman's conversation with Bruce during Pena Dura would suggest that this darkness is a permanent affliction rather than a temporary one, but Bruce, being the good guy that his, will likely stop at nothing to ensure that his best friend is restored to her former self.
There is, of course, the chance that Selina is too far gone for redemption and, if this proves to be the case, then it will be very much in line with the comic iteration of the Catwoman character. While most Batman characters fall into either the good or the evil category, Catwoman sort of dances between the two and, should Gotham continue to demonstrate Selina's self-destruction, then their version of the character will be pretty much comic-accurate.
