3. Barbara's Pregnancy

After Barbara went off the rails at the end of the first season, viewers were pretty convinced that, no matter what happened, there was no way that she and Jim were ever going to be able to rekindle their romance. In the comics, the characters of Barbara and Jim are parents to a daughter - also named Barbara - who is destined to become Batgirl, so therefore a lot of fans of the Fox series were left confused by the decision to damage this relationship beyond repair.

Under any normal circumstances, it would've been unbelievable for Gordon and Barbara to find comfort in one another once more, but the No Man's Land narrative has provided the believability factor. They're both alone and, in some respects, afraid. In the twisted universe of this show, the two characters will never get married, but that's okay, as a one-night stand is all that's required, and now that Barbara is pregnant, they'll never need to get together again.

It's a brilliant move on the writers' part - especially with the city in such a state - as a baby will give Gordon something extra to fight for. What's more, with a flash-forward coming in the future, perhaps we'll get to see this baby when she's a little older.
