Gotham Season 5: Predicting The Fate Of Every Character

Edward Nygma has perhaps had the most enjoyable and tragic descent into madness of all of Gotham's villains. Rather unexpectedly, he began the show on the side of good, working for the GCPD. After this, he gradually descended into madness and became the maniacal psychopath we've known in the comics.

Going into Season 5, Nygma already has one foot in the grave after the 'romantic' stabbing that he and Leslie Thompkins shared. However, we do know that Hugo Strange will soon have his way with them, and considering early set pictures have placed him alongside The Penguin, it's unlikely that he will die any time soon.

As for his fate at the end of the season, that is all but assured. Given his descent from good to bad across the show, it would seem very fitting for his run to end with his death. His on-again-off-again relationship with Penguin may be the catalyst for this. Though it may be a bold prediction, seeing Riddler give his life for The Penguin would bring his arc to a satisfying conclusion as they resolve all their differences.

Given that set photos have placed them together in the finale this could be more likely than some may think. Tabitha, and therefore Barbara Keane, have a bone to pick with both villains, so their conflict may come to a head and result in his death. The show will likely want to shock us with a few big deaths and Nygma could be the one to bite the bullet.
