Gotham Season 5 Premiere: 5 Ups & 2 Downs From Year Zero
1. Jeremiah Valeska's Absence
Considering Jeremiah Valeska was one of the founding fathers of Gotham's brave new world, it's rather disappointing that the character doesn't feature in Year Zero. That's not to say that Stephens didn't write around his absence well, because he absolutely did, but it's safe to say that fans had expected the character to feature rather heavily this season, so no matter how good the writing, Jeremiah's absence was noticeable.
Cameron Monaghan was utterly sublime in his portrayal of Jeremiah's crazed twin brother Jerome, and he's just as compelling as the cooler, more suave Jeremiah, which is why many of us are looking forward to seeing what's next for the psychotic character. We did learn that Jeremiah is still in the city, as his pal Ecco pays Gordon a visit during Year Zero, but we've yet to learn of what his plans for Gotham are.
