Gotham Series Finale: 5 Actors Who Could Play Batman
1. Max Greenfield
Max Greenfield has met the approval of the Fox executives not once, but twice. He played the role of Schmidt for seven seasons on Fox's New Girl, for which he was nominated for both an Emmy and a Golden Globe. Following that series he went straight into a new Fox show that debuted this fall - The Neighbors.
Greenfield would definitely be on the network's radar as they search for Batman. Since the Dark Knight is only in the finale, it would be manageable around his sitcom's schedule, and Fox should be happy to coordinate the effort which would benefit both shows as it raises Greenfield's profile.
Greenfield's character of Schmidt showcases how well he can play someone who regards himself as a member of the elite, and in turn could easily Bruce's playboy persona. In what would be an ironic turn, Schmidt actually idolizes actor Michael Keaton for his portrayal of Batman, and Greenfield is known for comedy - as was Keaton at one time.
Greenfield doesn't just do comedy though, having also been on Veronica Mars and American Horror Story: Hotel. He has all the tools in the trade to play this kind of Batman, and with Gotham's series finale fast approaching, we can only hope that it's him who dons the cape and cowl.
