Green Arrow And The Canaries: 7 Things That Must Happen
4. Mia Becomes A More Engaging Character
It's common knowledge that a good character doesn't have to be all that likable, so that would be the wrong term to use here. In Mia's case, the priority needs to be making her less unlikable.
A character that is perpetually moody, it's clear that she's Oliver Queen's daughter (as so many characters have humorously pointed out) - there's no doubt about that. That being said, Mia has developed all of her father's broodiness and none of his charm, as she snarls and grunts her way through every mission while finding new ways to be unnecessarily confrontational. And while that shtick might have worked in the future, it doesn't when she's around more experienced vigilantes as she comes across like a petulant delinquent.
However, she's improved a great deal in Season 8, as the writers have finally begun to address the root of her problems and through emotional scenes with the likes of Oliver, William and Laurel, she's becoming that much more engaging. And with the Arrowverse hoping to make her one of three protagonists on a show, it's imperative that this character journey continues going forward.
There's so much potential in Mia, and this show is the writers' chance to make it all a reality.
