Green Arrow has always declared itself as a comic series that focuses on many sociopolitical issues with an extreme left-wing view of the world. This is represented in Oliver, whose personal politics have been mostly left-leaning ever since the '70s.

So of course, it was inevitable that a storyline about white police officers committing extremely prejudiced actions against marginalized communities, especially African Americans, was going to come up.

In the storyline known as "The Nightbirds," the hooded hero returned to the city of Seattle where he learned that people from lower-income parts of the city were mysteriously vanishing at an alarming rate.

In order to help protect the people of Seattle, Oliver Queen helps finance the Seattle police force in creating an army of police drones that can sense the "crime threat" in someone before they actually commit a crime.

But during the creation of these drones, it turned out that the man who created their original algorithm, Aaron Zimm, was actually a white supremacist, so the drones ended up "predicting" that a lot of African American men were going to commit crimes.

Olie eventually destroyed all the drones and brutally murdered the two men responsible for their drones' racially biased massacres. However, he still helped fund the drones which led to the deaths of dozens of black men.

Though he intended well, the Robin Hood-inspired hero still failed those innocent men in the worst way imaginable for a supposed hero.
