Hannibal: 10 Things That Would've Happened Next
9. Back Behind Bars
Serving as a cat and mouse affair, the capture and escape of Hannibal Lecter has always played a large part in both the books and the films. Arguably the masked menace is never more terrifying than when he is behind bars and teasing you with his escape.
The show flipped that formula around in the first season, having Hugh Dancy's Will Graham putting on a perspex version of the infamous Hannibal mask, but flash forward to the show's end and we had a daring car escape by an incarcerated Lecter. However, we need Lecter back behind bars again, if only to escape for one particular scene.
Jonathan Demme's 1991 thriller/horror Silence of the Lambs sees Lecter attack his guards, and the glorious image of his blood-soaked face conducting classical music. Lecter's method of escape was to disguise himself using the face of a recently downed officer, and it would be perfect for the Fullerverse. Having the face switch-a-roo is one of the most chilling moments in an already horrifying film, and one that the show just had to do somehow. Imagine Hannibal and Will swapping faces? It would be an incredible way to send the character off!
