Hannibal: 6 Reasons It Should Come Back (And 4 Reasons It Shouldn't)

8. The Rest Of Bedelia's Story

The post-credits scene that followed the season three finale of Hannibal was interesting, to say the very least.

Following the slaying of the Great Red Dragon, Francis Dolarhyde, and the presumed demise of Will Graham and Hannibal Lecter, we see Bedelia Du Maurier, Lecter's psychiatrist and former hostage, preparing to eat dinner. The decor is fancy, Bedelia is dressed to the nines, and on the table is what appears to be a cooked human leg. A close-up shot reveals that is, in fact, Bedelia's own leg.

Having been introduced in season two, Bedelia appeared to be a damaged but kind-hearted individual at first. Then, things got complicated. It's revealed just how detrimental having Hannibal inside her head has been before something inside her finally snapped and she ventured past the point of no return.

The post-credits scene was left intentionally open-ended for the sake of the audience drawing their own conclusions. However, if the show does actually get renewed, you can bet that this is something that needs to be explored in depth. Bedelia's story is a tragic one and seeing a definitive conclusion would be incredibly fascinating.
