As much as she annoyed us in 'Sex and the City', we still kind of liked her which meant we were intrigued to see what Cynthia Nixon would do next. When it was confirmed that she would play Kade Prurnell, an employee of the Office of the Inspector General in FBI Oversight, it was evident this would be a very different role from her character Miranda in 'Sex and the City'. Playing Miranda made her a well-known name but as is the way with any actor or actress that stays in a role for too long she could have been type-casted. Now, entering a show of a completely different genre and a role that - judging on its description - will come with an edge, and is a smart and intriguing move by Nixon. Her character is said to be investigating the events of the first season and Jack Crawford's (Laurence Fishburne) potential role in the demise of Will Graham (Hugh Dancy). Needless to say, she's going to cause some tension. When we stop and think about the underlying themes and positive parts of her role in 'Sex and the City' - the career-driven lawyer, the zero tolerance for failure - to incorporate those qualities into this role, being part of 'Hannibal' seems almost too perfect for Nixon. She'll strut onto the screen in her suit with her sassy attitude and add to an already well-groomed cast. And for that, we await eagerly.
