Harry Potter TV Show: 13 Changes To The Originals They Should Make

6. Add A Death In Chamber Of Secrets

The Chamber of Secrets is a terrific book, and the movie adaptation - unfairly dismissed as the worst of the films by some - is excellent too, but the story definitely has a couple of big issues.

Despite the story's horror-esque feel, with it being about a monster hiding in the castle and attacking students, there's a bit of a safe vibe to the whole thing, mainly thanks to the thoroughly contrived way in which every single person who's attacked by the basilisk survives.

An ideal way for the series to realize the story's dark potential and to sort out the story's contrivances, would be for the Basilisk to kill someone during the events of this tale. This would, of course, be a major deviation from the book, but it would arguably be a advisable one. It has never felt believable that this fearsome monster never killed anyone during its second rampage.
