Hawkeye: 8 Big Questions Raised By Episodes 1 & 2
6. What Is Kazi's Role?
In the Matt Fraction run on the Hawkeye title in 2015, the writer brought Kazimierz Kazimierczak into Clint Barton's world. After the titular hero got on the wrong side of the Tracksuit Mafia, and some of New York's finest criminal organisations, Kazi, or the Clown, was hired to kill him. He was essentially working with the villainous Eastern European crew on a freelance, Avenger-killing basis.
However, in the series so far, there has been little to suggest that he will hold such a similar distinction. At the moment, Kazi appears to be just another member of the Tracksuit Mafia, but will it stay that way?
Fra Free has appeared in both episodes so far, but only fleetingly. Clint thought he was the boss of the Mafia before being soon proven wrong, but surely there will be something different about him, something that makes him stand out from the rest of the bros. Will it be his disturbing past and murderous vocation from the comics?
The MCU has already changed Jack, as well as Grills, who in the source material lived in Clint's building and was nicknamed so because he liked to BBQ on the roof. So there is precedence set for creative changes to these characters, essentially meaning nothing known about Kazi is certain to translate onto the screen.
