Hawkeye: 8 Big Questions Raised By Episodes 1 & 2

4. Did Jack Kill Armand?

Hawkeye Clint Barton
Marvel Studios

After the Tracksuit Mafia attacked the underground black market auction that Jack and his uncle attended, Kate went running to Armand’s apartment. He had just threatened her mother after all, and she wanted answers. What she found however, was Armand’s body.

The man had apparently been murdered by the sword, in New York, which can’t happen very often. Though the world seems to think it was the Ronin, Kate has a very short suspect list comprising of one name.

Jack is a connoisseur of swords and has something of a collection, even bidding hundreds of thousands of dollars for the Ronin sword. His fencing skills live up to his source material moniker of the Swordsman, and he and his uncle clearly had some bad blood between them.

It wasn’t until Jack offered Kate a monogrammed butterscotch that she had just seen in Armand’s apartment however, that she was sure he was the murderer. But did he actually do it, or is this some misdirection from the series? Is it too obvious that Jack did it, or is it just obvious enough that it is the only reasonable possibility?
