HBO's MaddAddam: 5 Reasons It Could Be Awesome (And 5 Reasons It Could Suck)

2. It's Made For Adaptation

The story that€™s told across the MaddAddam trilogy is a blockbuster, there€™s no question about that. In addition to being set in a vivid environment, Atwood brings us a multitude of multi-faceted characters and groups. From Snowman and the Crakers, to Toby and the God€™s Gardeners, to the eponymous Oryx, Crake, and MaddAddam themselves, we€™re given a wealth of people that are intriguing and sympathetic, without one of them becoming trite. The story itself only came full-circle with final instalment MaddAddam last year, a full decade after the release of the first novel Oryx and Crake, but it has been worth the wait. Dystopian fictions have seen a great rise in popularity thanks to Hollywood€™s adaptations of YA dystopias like The Hunger Games and Divergent. However, more €œadult€ dystopias, such as films like Elysium or The Purge, have been met with critical indifference and poor box office takings. Atwood€™s MaddAddam series could be the ideal antidote to this, so it€™s about time that her spectacular glimpses of the future are given proper screen treatment.

Fan of Taylor Swift and the Dead Kennedys (a duet I can only dream of). I like dystopias, slasher films, and video games that make me feel things.
