HBO's MaddAddam: 5 Reasons It Could Be Awesome (And 5 Reasons It Could Suck)

1. Darren Aronofsky Is An Amazing Director

Requiem for a Dream, The Wrestler, Black Swan...Darren Aronofsky has proven time and again that he is an outstanding director. His films are often given masses of hype, and yet he manages to live up to every word. Aronofsky is a filmmaker who knows what he€™s doing, so who better to be at the forefront of these adaptations? There€™s been talk that he will actually direct some of it too, so we€™re in for a treat. Aronofsky track record unquestionably shows that he knows what will make a great film. Aronofsky is quoted to have said, €œTo me, watching a movie is like going to an amusement park. My worst fear is making a film that people don't think is a good ride.€ With that in mind, it€™s comforting to know that, for better or for worse, MaddAddam will be a ride to remember. Like HBO, his greatest films have been largely concerned with human relations. He managed to turn a film about a stressed-out ballet dancer into one of the most exciting psychological thrillers of a generation by getting deep into the heads of and, by extension, relationships of the characters. This is the kind of directing that will be ideal for the MaddAddam trilogy. Atwood€™s books pack a stunning emotional punch, and this needs to be reflected in the adaptation.

Fan of Taylor Swift and the Dead Kennedys (a duet I can only dream of). I like dystopias, slasher films, and video games that make me feel things.
