HBO's Vinyl: Everything You Need To Know

8. Martin Scorsese Is Directing At Least One Episode

Much like their collaboration on Boardwalk Empire, Martin Scorsese will again be directing the pilot episode of Winter's new series. He's helped co-create it as well, and will serve as an executive producer for the entire season. Excitingly, the pilot isn't just a standard episode of TV, but rather it will be a feature-length one, clocking in at around two hours - that's longer than Mean Streets. That film is actually quite relevant to mention because it, along with Taxi Driver, had Scorsese capturing parts of New York in the 1970s, so he should be really at home with Vinyl, and while it'd perhaps be unfair to expect something on par with those movies, it does mean we can expect him to really capture the look and feel of the place. Aside from directing the pilot, and exec producing, it's also possible that Scorsese will return to direct another episode of the first season, presumably the finale. Starting and ending with Marty ain't a bad way to go.
