Heroes Reborn: 7 Reasons To Look Forward To The Revival
7. The Original Creator Is On Board
Tim Kring executive produced all four seasons of Heroes, which makes him the easiest man to hold responsible for both the soaring heights of the first season and the depths of what followed. Is it a good or a bad thing that he's back? It's fair to say that the downfall of Heroes was due to several factors, not least the writers' strike which disrupted its already directionless second season and left it with a limp story and inconsistent characters. There were also issues behind the scenes over creative differences as NBC attempted to save a sinking ship, and the question remains whether Heroes was ever a show which could sustain multiple seasons more on that later. Nonetheless, Kring got a lot of hate as the show went on and became more and more distant from the promise of its first few episodes. The first season told the origin stories of an ensemble simultaneously, bringing them together very slowly in pursuit of a prophecy. Some fans believe that it was the intermittent guiding presence of Bryan Fuller, now running the critical darling Hannibal, which made Heroes succeed, but as creator Kring's ability to come up with a daring concept is obvious. Hopefully NBC backs him up with experienced writers and producers (sadly unlikely to be Fuller) who can sustain his ideas and develop them.
