Heroes Reborn: 7 Reasons To Look Forward To The Revival

6. A Fresh Start

Heroes never served its secondary characters well. Caitlin, Peter's Irish girlfriend, was abandoned in an alternate timeline; Monica Dawson, Micah's cousin, was forgotten about; D.L., ostensibly a main character, was killed off-screen; and Maya and Alejandro's powers were terrible and their story was never engaging in the first place. Instead, the show returned again and again to Peter, Sylar and Claire, its favoured triumvirate, with Hiro as occasional comic relief, and it absolutely refused to kill any of them off. The revival will feature new characters, so let's hope that a similar fate doesn't befall them. The miniseries will benefit from a clean slate, perhaps taking place in the brave new world which Claire ushered in by revealing her powers, but otherwise unburdened by the imbalances of the original show. Without the opportunity to check in on Claire's latest relationship or confirm whether Sylar is feeling evil today, the show should be able to function with a true ensemble cast once again.
