House Of Cards: 10 Predictions For Season 3

3. Petrov And Claire

Little is known about Petrov, save that he's the president of Russia and our new antagonist for Season 3. In the trailer he gives off an incredibly dour demeanour and seems reluctant to shake of the hand of the beaming President Underwood, but beyond that not we're not really offered anything about his character. Well, except for that brief glimpse of him smacking a big wet one on the First Lady in a room full of people. Most fans are itching to see what could possibly cause a head of state to lip-lock another one's wife, but despite the helplessness of Claire's reaction and the shock on Frank's face it's a fair bet it's all simply part of their plans. At the risk of reading too much into something as simple as the way he's slouched into a chair, Petrov already comes off as a miserable and repressed man, and if Frank's seeking to manipulate someone like that then sex would be a powerful weapon. He used it on Zoe, Claire used it on Adam, and it's not beyond the realms of possibility to believe that the Underwood's would seek to appeal to the pleasure side of Petrov in order to better influence his business. Then again, he might just have had too much vodka.
