Its pretty impossible for a show about the President of the United States to avoid featuring an assassination attempt at some point. And yet, as common as it is, and as much the story was heading in this direction, this scene was nevertheless one of the most shocking moments in the series. The sequence was expertly staged by putting Frank in a situation that was hostile yet non-threatening. When Lucas bursts through the crowd firing at Frank, you cant help but gasp. Its all very chaotic. The crowd goes hysterical as Lucas and Meechum exchange shots. With all the mayhem, it was difficult to determine who was shot, who is safe and who died.
