The Underwoods marital woes continue to worsen in the first episode. Claire is MIA as Frank continues campaigning. Hes being put in the awkward situation of trying to explain to the press why his wife is rarely by his side, and that's not helping to improve his feelings towards his wife. Franks frustration towards Claire manifests itself in this brutal dream sequence. Its an extremely violent sequence and its pretty jolting to see Frank slamming Claire and not pulling any literal punches. But most interesting about the vision is that Claire gets the upper hand in the fight after stabbing Frank with a glass shard (nice kidney shot) and finally taking a page out of Gregor Cleganes fighting handbook with an eye-gouge. It seems even in his own fantasies and with all this hate he has for Claire, he still sees her as a strong woman.
