Its always a treat when Frank takes the time to talk directly to us. This scene marks the first time in Season Four that he breaks the fourth wall, and it is immediately jarring. Its clear that Frank is feeling cocky after the very public screw you he gave to Claire, and he relishes the opportunity to tell us another of his charming stories that inevitably takes a dark turn in the end. As he makes a peanut butter and jelly sandwich (with not nearly enough jelly) and recounts his memories of forcing his ungrateful neighbor out of family tree, its hard not to imagine a junior Frank Underwood swinging an axe as the boy cries in terror. Frank has likely always been as sadistic as he is now and thats not likely to change. He closes his story by saying, for sake, I hope she comes out of her tree before I have to bring out my axe.
