House of Cards made two big additions to the cast for Season 5: Patricia Clarkson as Jane Davis, the Deputy Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade, and Mark Usher, a high-ranking advisor and strategist in the Republican party.

Neither of them are easy to get a read on in terms of loyalty or motivations (except, of course, for the thing they're all motivated by here: power), but they do worm their way into the Underwoods' inner-circle.

By the season's end, Usher is positioning himself as a key member of Claire's cabinet, with an eye on being VP, while Davis is scheming away with Frank. That means both of them should have big roles to play in Season 6, but what will those parts be?

Both provide valuable political nous, yet neither can be trusted, and it'll be interesting to see whether Frank and/or Claire recognise that before it's potentially too late.
