House of Cards biggest strength is when it has Frank and Claire together, ostensibly working towards the same goal but each doing what will put them ahead. It's a toxic, unpredictable, and twisted relationship, but Season 5 seemingly ends it for good.

Claire assumes the position of POTUS, and doesn't grant Frank the pardon he desires. In turn, Frank states that if she doesn't pardon him he'll "kill her".

Is that a threat Frank will attempt to go through with? He's committed murders before, but this is still his wife whom he professes to love, so would he really try to murder her? As for Claire, could we see her eventually pardon him, with Season 5's finale just being a way of making him sweat and putting some pressure on?

It's hard to see how the two could possibly reconcile, especially now Claire is in the Oval Office, but will the show really be able to keep them apart?
