House Of Cards Season 6 Review: 2 Ups & 6 Downs

2. The Ending Is A Lame Cop-Out

No spoilers here of course, but you should brace yourself for how House of Cards ends, because it's not good. Not good at all.

The closing minutes of the series finale feel like a slap in the face to fans, with a ridiculous plot twist causing a major motivation shift for at least one character, leading to an ending that's both predictable and deeply, intensely unsatisfying.

It's painfully clear the writers struggled to find an ending for these characters, and the one they served up simply feels cheap, lazy and not at all in the spirit of the show in its earlier, better years.

Does it retroactively make the show worse? Some will certainly think so, and it's hard to imagine many coming away from those final moments happy with how it all wrapped up.
