House Of Cards Season 6 Review: 2 Ups & 6 Downs

1. Its Fierce Political Relevance

House Of Cards Season 6

One thing House of Cards has always had going for it is its intense political topicality, and though in recent years reality has actually outdone the show in the absurdity stakes, season six does at least have its finger on the pulse of the current climate.

Some of the themes this season include the era of "fake news" and the impact of technology on politics, with "Russian trolls" even being referenced a few times, while Shepherd Unlimited uses a mobile phone app to hoover up data from its oblivious users.

The strong feminist bent is also inevitable and undeniable, with countless loaded dialogues about the ills of men and undercurrent of female empowerment coursing through real-life society over the last year.

Most of it's handled without much subtlety or grace, but at least it's remaining firmly engaged with issues of the moment, no?

What did you think of House of Cards' final season? Shout it out in the comments!
