House Of The Dragon: Every Targaryen To Sit The Iron Throne
1. Aegon III
At just ten years of age when he inherited the crown, Aegon III's first years as King saw him barely ever ascend the steps to the Iron Throne. The burden of rule was left to those chosen to be his regents, and the several Hands that served him, including Lord Cregan Stark, the Hooded Hand Lord Tyland Lannister, and Lord Unwin Peake.
Without question the most important action of Aegon's reign, aside from quelling the few remaining subjects still loyal to Aegon II, was Aegon III's wedding to his cousin, Jaehaera. As the daughter of the King's predecessor, this marriage once again united the greens and the blacks, the two warring factions of the Targaryen house, as a huge step toward peace in the realm.
Throughout his young life, Aegon III had already seen too much horror to ever truly be happy again. Living through the Dance of the Dragons, and seeing his mother's downfall and ultimate death at the hands of his uncle and his dragon, had been too much to recover from.
Possibly the most memorable event from Aegon III's reign was the death of the last living dragon, forever earning the King the nickname of the Dragonbane. Considered a broken King from the moment he took the throne, the common folk never looked upon Aegon III with fondness, either before or after his death from sickness and disease.
