Speaking of Briarcliff, the macabre asylum was home to plenty of colourful characters - several of whom became recurring characters during the second season of the show. However, there was no one was quite like inmate Pepper, an innocent little girl who suffered from microcephaly.

Pepper popped up quite a bit during Asylum, and she even became friends with Sister Jude (during the nun's imprisonment in her own facility) before dying. But where did her story begin? Well, we learned in AHS' fourth season - entitled Freak Show - that Pepper was one of the many outcasts that had found shelter and happiness thanks to freak show leader Elsa Mars.

Pepper was the first AHS character to appear in more than one season, and the timeline of Asylum and Freak Show again intertwined in Freak Show's tenth episode, when Elsa was forced to bid farewell to her beloved Pepper, and not long after, the young girl was taken into Briarcliff, where she met the pre-possession Sister Mary Eunice.
