How I Met Your Mother: 10 Craziest Things Ted Did For Love

4. Staying In New York

Admittedly, this one worked out pretty well for the guy, but even big romantics have to admit that abandoning your dream job and a chance at a true fresh start after watching the love of your life marry one of your best friends, for a girl you met once, is a bit ludicrous.

Sure, Ted and Tracy's flirtatious exchange at Farhampton station was adorable and Ted's always had an over the top streak in him, but... really, bro?

What's more, the final season of the show felt like a middle finger to fans, with many plots that unfolded throughout its 24 episode run being abandoned or cycled back on in the show's rushed finale.

While Barney and Robin's marriage -- which formed the focal point of the entire season -- is the most obvious example of this, Ted's decision to stay in New York rather than pursue a new life in Chicago made the gang's emotional goodbye at the wedding redundant, yet another emotive moment rendered shallow by what followed.
