How I Met Your Mother: 10 Greatest Fantasy Sequences
9. Mystery Vs. History
The Mystery vs. History episode features some very poignant imagery about how technology is used in today’s day and age to cloud your view of people.
The episode is about Ted going on a date with a beautiful woman, and they have both agreed to not Google each other beforehand. However, after receiving a link to her Google page from every single one of his friends, he caves and looks her up.
He finds out that she is better than he could’ve ever imagined, saving dying children and having a genius level IQ on top of being a stunning woman to look at. We then see the digital wall go up, showing her face surrounded by all of the things he has seen about her online.
Although this isn’t one of the most exciting or visually stunning moments in the show, the way that it perfectly encapsulates how you can see someone when dating in the digital age is executed so well. By showing the wall in front of someone, it shows what the average person will see when they first meet someone, especially when they know things about them through social media.
