9. Proving Friendship
During Season Three, Barney Stinson broke his own sacred Bro Code and slept with Robin. After trying to find a loophole in the code, he came clean to Ted about his betrayal and they fell out. It's a defining moment in their relationship, and their brief time apart is hard to watch because you're so used to them being together.
At the season's end, Ted is admitted to hospital after a car crash and Lily calls Barney to let him know. Barney proceeds to run across town to the hospital to get to his best friend, who he seems to think is dying. As he crosses the street, he's hit by a bus and is put in a comically large body cast, and the two old friends reconcile.
It's a bittersweet moment between the friends, and even Marshal joins in the hugs. But it also shows that underneath his carefree attitude and narcissistic tendencies, he really deeply cares for his friends and is willing to run across New York to save them. Plus, it properly introduces fans to the idea of an actual Barney/Robin relationship.
