Ted is a self-proclaimed hopeless romantic and for every new relationship he is in, there is always an over the top display of affection to go with it. The dialogue is classic Ted Mosby mush as he talks about the beauty of a moment; "by it's very nature, it... slips through our fingers... making it that much more precious". Marshall and Lily react just as the majority of other human beings likely would, with mild repulsion. "Ugh that is bad. That is, like, high-school-literary magazine bad", Lily pretty much sums up how the audience all feel at Ted and Victoria being unbearably into each other. Marshall tops it off with his embarrassment for having to hear it by saying "they're not even high".
