Don Frank is Robin’s co-worker. He starts out grumpy and unprofessional before fully transforming. He starts to wear pants after three months of working together. This might have been inspired by his failed ‘naked man’ manoeuvre on Valentine’s Day which he had read about on Barney’s blog.

Robin ends up dating him a couple of months and they are genuinely good for each other. They even move in together. Robin turns down a job as a lead anchor at a Chicago station to be with him. He breaks her heart by accepting that job and moving away when it is offered to him. Robin takes the break-up hard. She neglects her appearance and routinely leaves death threats on his voicemail. She eventually recovers and moves on.
