Ted could never find her number, so with every Halloween party that happens afterwards, Ted waits for her and even dresses up in the same Halloween costume, but she never comes back to the party. It would have been considered fate and destiny for whomever this mystery Halloween date that wasn't to be the one. And then in Season 7, the writers end that speculation, where Ted tracks down who the Slutty Pumpkin was by finding the rental place of where she got the costume. The Identity of the Slutty Pumpkin turns out to be Naomi, played by Katie Holmes, but when they finally go on their first date, it turns out the six-year wait wasn't meant to be and both end up not wanting to pursue a relationship with one another. All that hype and speculation for naught.
