How I Met Your Mother: Did We Already Get A Glimpse Of How The Series Potentially Ends?

1. Ted's Wife Has Died

It would be an awful way for the sitcom to end after so many years, but there's a possibility that Ted is remembering his wife through telling the story of her to his children in a memorial service kind of way. Does he want the extra 45 days because she's really sick, or had just passed away. It would be a tragic end to a series that has made us laugh and live in suspense for over eight years, but it's definitely a possibility. In the story being told to the kids, you never actually see the mother come in and help tell the story with Ted, it's just him alone, telling it. Or a much grimmer outlook;
