How I Met Your Mother: Every Season Finale Ranked Worst To Best

Doppelgangers had a tough job of ending the one of the show's strongest seasons, and whilst it's far from a terrible episode, it's certainly one of its more forgettable finales.

A stirring mix of classic sitcom shenanigans and the series' signature ability to shock its audiences with tragic plot twists, the season five conclusion finds Marshall and Lily looking for the gang's final doppelganger - Barney's - as a sign from the universe that they should start having kids.

This particular development leads to some pretty funny mishaps, as the pair keep bumping into Barney wearing one of his many disguises, but it also ends on an emotional high as they finally agree to start a family.

The other side of the episode deals with Robin and her boyfriend Don, who leaves her for the very job she turned down earlier to be with him. It's affecting stuff, but mixing it with the Marshall/Lily drama makes the whole thing feel like a standard episode rather than a major game-changer.
