Ted and Barney pointed out athletic blonde Stacey at MacLaren's and hideously, but brilliantly, competed to land her in a bid to prove they have better game than the other.

To everyone’s surprise, Ted got the girl, but ran out on her after envisaging her with Barney. Pity, she seemed perfectly pleasant and even ticked Ted’s playing bass guitar box.

13. Marybeth

The affectionate Marybeth was Ted’s date for an eventful New Year’s Eve limo ride in season one, but he stopped giving her any attention the minute that Robin turned up.

She was friendly and smart - sensing that Ted is still into Robin. She seemed the type of girl all parents want their son to bring home. Possibly the right woman at the wrong time.
