Invincible: Every Main Character Ranked Worst To Best
11. William Clockwell
You can always expect certain things in a superhero project; costumes, villains, awkward romances, and, of course, a non-powered best friend sidekick. The MCU's Peter Parker has Ned, Batman has Alfred, Daredevil has Foggy and Invincible has William Clockwell. Does he rank as well as those other examples? Not really. But does he play his role well? Yes, well enough.
William came along right away as a significant friend to Mark but was instantly sidelined as a less important character. While their dynamic was clearly important, it never felt like a priority, as there was never any conflict between them, even when there should have been.
There were some golden opportunities for tension between the pair, such as Mark's constant lateness or failure to save Rick. But, both of these possible avenues were glossed over, which left William feeling inconsequential within the narrative.
He did a solid job of keeping Mark Grayson grounded. But, overall, he was nothing but a serviceable role with enough qualities to be entertaining but not enough development to feel like a vital piece of the Invincible puzzle.
