8. Sokovia

By far the most interesting link to the wider MCU this season was the reveal that Walker was previously stationed in Sokovia on a mission, which is of course the fictional Eastern European country laid to waste at the end of Avengers: Age of Ultron.

We see only a few scattered flashes of the country and the chronology of Walker's time spent there is pretty unclear, but the grim details of her experience nevertheless paint a horrifying picture of the state of the country.

After being captured by local soldiers, tortured and raped, Walker's Bloody Mary personality emerged and slaughtered them all, after which she called for help and was finally extracted.

Considering how shoehorned these links to the movies can seem, this was actually a pretty brilliant, just-subtle-enough way to build a bridge between the TV and film worlds.
