Iron Fist Season 2: 19 Easter Eggs & References Explained

13. The Devil's Claw

Iron Fist Marvel Vs Capcom Devil S Claw
Netflix & Capcom

Early in the season, Davos (Sacha Dhawan) leaves Hai-Qing Yang (Henry Yuk) incapacitated by inflicting a sacred manoeuvre upon him called the Devil's Claw.

The attack blocks vital arteries and causes a stroke in the victim, giving them a prolonged death that doesn't seem remotely suspicious to the untrained eye. Yang takes a few days to expire, by which point his wife Sherry (Christine Toy Johnson) has taken over his affairs.

What's more interesting, though, is that while the move isn't borrowed from any prior Iron Fist lore, it is a manoeuvre available to the character Firebrand in the 2011 beat 'em up video game Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3.

Given the Marvel link, we're left to assume the writers of this episode are big fans of the game.
