Iron Fist Season 2 Review: 5 Ups & 7 Downs

2. Women Steal The Show

Though the season is centred around the conflict between Danny and Davos, it's really the female characters who get the most interesting material to work with.

Sure, Typhoid Mary falls short of expectations and Joy gets stranded in some dull business subplots earlier in the season. The latter, however, also becomes significantly more fleshed-out later on, with a more morally intriguing treatment which gives Jessica Stroup plenty to sink her teeth into.

Then there's Misty Knight (Simone Missick), who makes a welcome appearance for a surprising number of episodes while continuing to build her endearing friendship with Colleen. It's Colleen herself, though, who wrestles the show away from Danny, feeling like the true star of the series in every way he isn't.

Considering the mainline MCU is still struggling to give women their fair shake, it's at least encouraging to see the TV branch moving faster in a more forward-thinking direction.
